Terminology

Blessing: Upon being promoted to Clan Leader, the new Leader spends a night of meditation to commune with StarClan, and receive their Blessing. Cats receive nine lives, and will die and be resurrected eight times before permanently joining StarClan. Foxes receive Cunning, allowing them intense knowledge of the world around them (think of this as a precise and always accurate sixth sense). Cervidae receive Swiftness, allowing them to reach impossible levels of speed and agility over or through any terrain (this also causes any deer or elk running with them to gain similar boosts of swiftness, though not quite as intense). Rodents and Mustelids gain extremely strengthened bones and hide, allowing them to easily survive crushing blows that would normally overpower their small mass (this includes things like surviving a fall from a cliff, being stomped underhoof, etc. Note that this does not make them immune, but it does make poisons--or any malice that works from the inside out--their weakness).

StarClan: "Heaven", a place the spirit goes after death, filled with departed loved ones and heroes.

Silverpelt: A band of stars in the sky, commonly associated with StarClan.

Camp: The clan's "home" within their territory.

Nursery: A den or other secluded place meant for the birthing and raising of young.

Fresh-Kill Pile: A place, usually in the center of the camp, where carnivorous creatures gather prey they have hunted to share amongst the rest of the clan.

Fresh-Gathering Pile: A place, usually in the center of the camp, where herbivorous creatures gather vegetation they have foraged to share amongst the rest of the clan.

NewLeaf: Spring.

GreenLeaf: Summer.

Leaf-Fall: Autumn.

Leaf-Bare: Winter.

Moons: Months.

Half-moon: About two weeks.

Quarter-moon: About a week.

Snows: Years.

Fox-length: About a yard/meter long.

Paw-step: About six inches/half a foot.

Kit-step: About an inch.

Rabbit length: About a foot.

Crowfood: Dead prey that has begun to rot.

Loner: An individual that lives by itself outside of any clan and doesn't defend territory.

Hunting Patrol: A group responsible for catching prey and returning it to the clan's camp to feed them. Also responsible for defending clan territory if they come across trespassers.

Gathering Patrol: A group responsible for gathering vegetation and other food sources and returning it to the clan's camp to feed them. Also responsible for defending clan territory if they come across trespassers.

Rogue: A usually hostile individual who does not have a permanent home, roams around, and does not care about crossing clan boundaries.

Sharing Tongues: Grooming one another while conversing as a form of socializing and bonding.

The Gathering: A truce held for one night every month, under the full moon. The Leader from every clan, along with their chosen accompanying party, meets at a sacred location to socialize and discuss issues. There is no battle on this night.
